Capcom confirmed that all the Mizutsune (Tamamitsune's English name) you fight in Monster Hunter Generations/Monster Hunter Cross are the male ones.
Now, females do exist, but it's unknown what they look like. Maybe they're not as colorful as the males, sorta like peacocks and peahens?
